All decisions made concerning school cancellations will be made with the safety of our children as the top priority. Please listen to one of the radio/TV stations listed below for announcements concerning cancellations. Announcements will only be made to cancel school -- no announcement means school will be in session. As soon as a decision to cancel school is made, we will call the radio/TV stations and ask them to announce the cancellation. They usually get the message out as soon as they receive it. In addition, cancellation information will be posted to the district website (www.salemschools.net) as soon as possible. Please do not attempt to call radio/TV stations or school officials. These calls will only tie up phone lines and cause delays in the announcements. The Salem School District will also use the AlertNow telephone announcement program to announce school cancellations and/or early dismissals. School cancellations due to inclement weather will be broadcast at 6:00 a.m. If a decision regarding school cancellation is made after 6:00 a.m., the call will go out as soon as possible after the decision has been made to cancel school. If a decision regarding school cancellation is made in the evening, regarding the next school day, the message will be sent during the evening. Parents will be able to access their child's grades and attendance information on the internet at: http://pinnacle.salemschools.net There will also be a link in the "For Parents" section of the district website (www.salemschools.net). The Pinnacle Gradebook Viewer will update daily to ensure that parents have access to current grade and attendance information. When parents log on to the Pinnacle system and click on Internet Viewer in the left-hand column, a list of current grades for each subject will be seen on the screen. Select a subject in the left-hand column and run a report that shows grades for each assignment for that course. Parents can also run a report that checks for missing assignments and sign up for email updates. We feel that you will find the new program easy to use and a useful tool to keep track of your child's educational progress.
